STMC is a London-based mountaineering club, drawing its membership from London and the home counties. The Club was founded more than 25 years ago by a group of keen hillwalkers and climbers who saw a need for a London-area club that was perhaps a little less technical than the established mountaineering and climbing clubs. Ever since, it has drawn its members from a wide area around London, and has tended to attract people who are keen on hillwalking and trekking rather than pure technical rock climbers.
