Multimap
The Multimap online map service gives you maps suitable for walking, free for personal use.
On reaching the Multimap web site click on a map to search. The map will reprint at a larger scale with each click. For a map that is useful for walking, click on the area you require until you are at 1:25,000 scale. This will give you a printable map similar to the OS Explorer series. Click the camera icon above the map to see an ariel photo of the area.
To save a map on your computer
Right click and save it as a gif image. If you wish to draw a route or add to the map in any way, open it in Photofiltre and the save it as a jpeg image. You can then open the jpeg image in photfiltre and modify it using the drawing tools. If you need a larger area simply open two adjacent maps then copy and paste one map onto the other. Once you have them positioned correctly, save the larger map under a new name.
