A circular route of about 3.5 miles with gentle hills starting from
the famous Potkiln pub. Frilsham is near Yattendon in west Berkshire
SU 551731. Postcode RG18 0XX
1. Walk from the back of the car park at the side of the Potkiln pub. Follow the track with the micro brewery on your left. Climb the slope passing several houses including Laurel Bank Cottages. Avoid public footpath on the left and continue to two cottages at right angles to the pathway. Bear left just beyond them and follow path between the holly trees. Disregard the turning on the left and keep right at next fork. Head for the road and turn left.
Walk through Frilsham village, passing entrance to Beechfield, and
turn left at sign for Hermitage and Bucklebury.
2. When lane bends right, go straight ahead, following the path into deep woods. Pass through gate and continue on bridleway to next waymark. Branch off left at this point following narrower path to road. Cross over to the gateway (no gate when we walked) and continue on this track past piles of loges for about .75 miles. Keep on ahead all the way, do not turn off left or right but continue on main track through ornamental woodland to junction.
